On the edge of the village, on the road to Woodnesborough, you will  find  Barnsole Vineyard.  It is on the left-hand side of  Fleming  road, just past the Barnsole Road t-junction.

The vineyard is owned by the brothers Danilewicz.  The vineyard produces white wines and vine varieties are:Schonburger, Huxelrebe, Reichensteiner and Dornfelder.  As well as a vineyard, the site also features a winery and a Shop (open most days to 6.00p.m. or dusk in Winter).

The vineyard was planted in the spring of 1993 after some 16 years of local research and experimentation as to which grape varieties and growing system would best suit this area. Many early ripening grape varieties, which are particularly suitable for the English climate, are now available to choose from. East Kent has the advantages of relatively low rain-fall, and being bounded by the sea on three sides, enjoys some protection from frost.

The vineyard currently extends over an area of 3.5 acres, and is of a size that still allows close attention to detail so as to produce grapes of the best possible quality. It specializes in the production of white wines in its own purpose-built on-site winery. Modern New-world  techniques  are  used  throughout  to  preserve  the delicate freshness of the fruit, for which the best English wines are noted. The use of stainless steel tanks, cool processing and fermentation, and protection from air are all important to achieve the best results.

The vineyard strongly supports the Quality Wine Scheme which, being administered by the Wine Standards Board, ensures that a high quality standard is maintained.

Wines are available for direct sale. The vineyard is open every day from April to October 10.30 am - 6 pm, and most days in the winter depending on the weather, but closes at dusk.

Admission and wine tasting are free. Free mini-tours, lasting about 20 minutes, are also available, in which visitors are shown how the grapes are grown and wine made. Car parking is free and there is also a free picnic area. There is good access for the disabled. Advice on vine pruning and care is happily given to amateur growers.
